One Canada’s primary objectives has always been family re-unification. Keeping this in mind, the Canadian government allows Canadian citizens and/or permanent residents to sponsor members of the family class.

Who can be sponsored?

  • Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner (at least 18 years old)
  • Parents and grandparents
  • Depended children including adopted children

To be eligible to sponsor, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Meet the financial criteria set by IRCC (except when sponsoring your spouse/child)
  • Not have defaulted on any previous sponsorship undertaking
