One Canadaâs primary objectives has always been family re-unification. Keeping this in mind, the Canadian government allows Canadian citizens and/or permanent residents to sponsor members of the family class.
Who can be sponsored?
- Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner (at least 18 years old)
- Parents and grandparents
- Depended children including adopted children
To be eligible to sponsor, you must:
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Meet the financial criteria set by IRCC (except when sponsoring your spouse/child)
- Not have defaulted on any previous sponsorship undertaking
